Robert Raney

Robert Raney is an Adjunct Professor in the Accounting and Control Department at IESE Business School. He holds a PhD and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Charterholder). 

Robert's research focuses on scenarios with high uncertainty and information asymmetry. His ongoing projects involve topics such as the cost of pollution, sustainability disclosures, and the fair value of financial assets. Within these contexts, his research explores the implications of information and management disclosure choices. Robert enjoys helping students understand how to use technology and information to support sound strategic decision-making. He has taught courses in managerial accounting, advanced accounting advisory cases, and systems modeling for financial decision-making. 

Before joining IESE, Robert worked as the Valuation Director for a large fund of hedge funds, where he chaired the valuation committee and was responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing all the firm’s valuation policies and procedures. Currently, he serves as an advisor to a FinTech company in the digital asset space. Robert also provides consulting services for valuation-related projects.
